Early Childhood Literacy sponsored by Target Corporation
Central Nyack Community Playgroup
In collaboration with the Nyack Public Schools’ Family Resource Center, this innovative program is designed to encourage parents in reading aloud to their pre-schoolers. The group meets during the school year, once per week on Wednesdays at 6pm at the Community Center on Waldron Ave in Central Nyack. Parents are engaged in activities with their 4 year old children that promote reading, school readiness, healthy eating and nutrition. Through the funds provided by Target, these children will also receive age appropriate books to take home periodically throughout the year.
This program is offered in collaboration with the Nyack Family Resource Center and is limited to residents of the Nyack School District and is FREE to families.

Parent and Toddlers Together Circle Time and Literacy Month Workshops
Our early childhood reading library will be enhanced through the Target grant enabling us to purchase new books, educate parents on how to select age and developmentally stimulating books as well as how to attract young toddlers to reading and literacy based experiential activities.
To promote early childhood literacy, a series of workshops for parents and their Toddlers is scheduled throughout 2008.
March 2008
“Spring Into Reading: Read To Your Bunny” is a month-long series of special events and activities designed to promote literacy among the toddlers and preschoolers who participate in our ongoing “Parents & Toddlers Together” program, as well as children from local and neighboring communities. All events are being held at the Rockland Parent-Child Center at 7777 Avenue in Nyack. They are FREE and open to the public.
